In the morning we meet at the parking lot in the Anlauftal.
From there we hike through the narrow inlet valley. The Ankogel towers at the end of the valley. Before the Tauernbach Falls we cross the Anlaufbach and begin the climb towards Korntauern. On the opposite side of the valley we see the forbidding Hölltorgrat.
During the ascent there is the opportunity to refill your drinking bottles at a spring.
The Roman path can still be seen in certain places. The ranger provides information about the historic Tauern crossings.
From Korntauern we descend to the middle station of the Ankogelbahn and take the cable car down to the valley.
We take the bus and the Tauern lock back to the starting point of the tour.
Meeting point: 6.45 am, Anlauftal car park
(Follow the Anlauftal road and drive past the train station. There is a parking lot on the right in front of the bridge.)
Duration: approx. 9 hours including transfer time (of which approx. 6.5 hours are pure walking time)
Altitude: 1360 m ascent, 620 m descent
Difficulty level: Challenging special excursion
Equipment: Backpack, sun protection, mountain boots, drink and snack, change of clothes, hood and gloves, possibly sticks
Participants: max. 8 people
Cost: €40.00 plus cable car, bus & train
Taking dogs with you is not permitted on excursions out of consideration for the other participants and the local wild animals.
