the cōmodo

The former Habsburgerhof on Kaiserhofstraße (close to the Kaiser-Wilhelm-Promenade), built by Friedrich Hirt in 1881, was torn down in 1962 to make room for a new structure. From 1985 on, that building belonged to "Krankenfürsorgeanstalt der Bediensteten der Stadt Wien". It was closed for commercial reasons in 2017 and taken over by a Berlin architectural firm in 2019.

The grand opening of the brand new boutique hotel took place on 27 January 2023. the cōmodo is a passion project for the love of design and an intimate connection to Bad Gastein, led by designer Piotr Wisniewski and owner Barbara Elwardt from the Berlin-based agency weStudio. The hotel is a bold debut for the cōmodo brand - the first of a series of hotels to be built worldwide over the next few years.

All 70 rooms feature unique art, vintage and modern handmade furniture, and oak wood floors. Underfloor heating warms the rooms. Guests are provided with smart TV and high-speed Wi-Fi, safe, hairdryer, bathrobes and slippers. The view from the window lets the guest look out over the valley or directly into the wooded mountains. One will find a lobby with a large bar and lounge area. The hotel offers an à la carte restaurant with modern Austrian cuisine and farm-to-table concept, as well as a beer garden. Furthermore, there is a playroom for children, a cinema, a co-working space with full equipment. Guests will find the perfect gift from the Gastein Valley in a shop with regional products. This should leave nothing to be desired.

Furthermore, the cōmodo offers its guests a spa area with indoor pool, sun deck, fitness room with Technogym equipment and a separate room for yoga sessions. Some of the parking spaces will be equipped with e-charging stations. For more information, click here.
