Bauernherbst Traditions in Gastein

When summer slowly turns into fall, the sun's rays become milder and milder, and the best views can be seen from the peaks, the Bauernherbst is just around the corner!

The Harvest Festival is a time of community, celebration and remembrance of the roots and traditions of this picturesque Alpine region.

On Saturday, August 23, 2025, the 30th Salzburg Harvest Festival will be officially opened in Dorfgastein . Every year, one of the more than 70 Harvest Festival towns across the province opens the Salzburg Harvest Festival. To mark the anniversary, Dorfgastein invites you to a festival in a class of its own.

The official opening is celebrated with a large parade , during which magnificently decorated floats and traditional costumes light up the Gastein Valley . Visitors can look forward to an extensive program that combines living tradition and genuine hospitality:

• Schnalzer, Schuhplattler and impressive folk dance performances
• Concert by traditional music bands from the region
• Culinary delicacies at farmers' autumn stalls and local innkeepers
• Traditional stalls with handicrafts and regional products
• A varied children's program for younger guests
• Musical entertainment to make the day unforgettable

The cooperation between clubs, innkeepers, the local tourism association and the municipality guarantees a lovingly organized event.

Another highlight of the weekend: The 40th anniversary of the Dorf:Festwill be celebrated as early as Friday, August 22, 2025- a kick-off full of conviviality and regional delicacies that perfectly kicks off the Bauernherbst.

The Bauernherbst is characterized by authentic and atmospheric festivities, the focus is on folk culture and customs. The festive costume is taken out of the closet, because it is simply better to dance with lederhosen and dirndl to hearty folk music - gladly late into the night.
