Summer with children in Dorfgastein

Known as the “adventure mountain”, Fulseck in Dorfgastein really lives up to its name. Families are whisked up the mountain by cable car – for a comfortable and scenic ascent. Between stops, picturesque trails are waiting for explorers of all ages. The three local themed trails provide fascinating insights into the region’s flora, fauna and fungi. 

Near Lake Spiegelsee, a forest playground lets kids hone their skills on various play elements, while adults can relax on nearby loungers. 

At the summit, the four-metre-tall Sky Swings offer magnificent views, and the scenic viewing platform presents a stunning vista of Austria’s highest peaks. After going exploring, you can swoosh down to the middle station on mountain carts or take on the single track on your mountain bikes.

Event tip: If you’re visiting in July or early August, you should keep Wednesday evenings free for the enchanting evening ascents on Fulseck. These unique cable car rides are the perfect opportunity to marvel at the sun setting behind the mountains. 

The leisure activities you can do in the valley are just as exciting as the attractions on Fulseck. Whether it’s adrenaline-fueled laps on the pump track, competitive matches on the tennis courts, or a refreshing swim in the Solarbad pool: There’s always something new to experience!

On less sunny days, visits to Klammstein Castle and the Entrische Kirche cave make for great outings with your loved ones. Plus: Rainy days are also perfect for a dip in the thermal waters of Gastein’s spas.
